What tests required prior to implant surgery?
- A small x-ray. A small x-ray is taken in the dental clinic.
- A big x-ray (OPG). This has to be done from a radiologists clinic.
CAT scan: CAT scan is necessary to see the density & strength ofjaw bone. After doing the CAT scan, detailed calculations are done for placement of implants.CAT scan is also done in a radiologists clinic. A diabetes test & blood pressure & other parameters are checked for medically compromised patients. Besides we also take & maintain patient records by photographs etc.
What other preparations are required for implant placements?
Sometimes a model of the patients bone is prepared in a specialized laboratory to help in proper placement of implants.
How are implants placed?

What is the time frame of implant treatment?
The initial planning consists of treatment & preparation (evaluation by various tests) for the surgery. Placing an implant in the jaw bone involves a minor dental surgery during which the implant is placed in the jaw bone. The surgery most of the time is done under local anaesthesia.
This implant needs 3 months to get well attached to the bone. After this period of 3 months the cap or crown is placed on the implant. During this period, a temporary cap is given.
What are the precautions to be taken after implant treatment?
